Diving Medicals

One of Queensland's most popular attractions is unquestionably the Great Barrier Reef.

With it's colourful coral formations, beautiful marine life and year-round moderate water temperatures, the reef is a must-see for everybody.

If you plan on diving the Great Barrier Reef, you may need to first pass a Diving Medical test.  Our Doctors are there to provide these at times to fit in with your travel schedule.

There are two types of Diving Medicals that we conduct.  The first is an "Open Water Diving Medical' or an AS 4005.1. This Medical is suitable for those who are recreational Divers. Upon completion, you receive a certificate of fitness which is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.  You do not need to make an appointment to have an Open Water Medical, just come in to our Practice and we will ensure you are seen to promptly.  A full consultation will take approximately 30 - 45 minutes.  This examination is not Medicare refundable.

If you have any Medical conditions/problems or are pregnant, please remember to mention these at the time of your consultation.

The Second type of Diving Medical we perform is an "Occupational Diving Medical" or an AS 2299-1992. This Medical is suitable only for those who work in the diving industry, such as Dive Instructors.  The Medical is a little more involved than an Open Water, and can take between 45 minutes to an hour to complete.  Once issued, the certificate is valid for 12 months.  An appointment is not necessary.  This is not a Medicare refundable service.
